Our product, Lutein (also known as xanthophyll) is a yellow carotenoid pigment found in various fruits, vegetables, corn, and flowers. It can also be found in egg yolk. Lutein is one of the largest groups of over 600 compounds known as carotenoid pigments. It is an efficient anti-oxidant, and is therefore able to protect cells in the human body from free radical damage.
In addition to anti-oxidant actions, lutein converts in the human body to vitamin A, an essential micronutrient for normal vision. Lutein in macula filters out potentially harmful blue lights and UV light, and protects optic nerve cells from damage. Recent studies indicate that lutein is likely to prevent other diseases of the eye, such as cataracts and glaucoma. Lutein further protects from cancers of the lung, prostrate, and breast, and from cardiovascular diseases.
Lutein can also be used as a coloring agent, an additive, in cosmetics and baccy for its bright-colored, innocuity and high safety.
