Molecular Formula: NaH
CAS No.: 7646-69-7
Physicochemical Properties:
It is a fine crystal which color is from white to grayish, and these crystals are scattered in oil at the proportion of 60% to 65%. It begins to decompose at 800℃, and it is inflammable when being exposed to humid surrounding.
Function:
Sodium hydride is mostly used in deprotonation of 1,3-dicarbonyl compounds, maleates and similar compounds. The corresponding sodium-containing compounds can be alkylated to afford various organic compounds, and related reactions include the Dieckmann condensation, the Stobbe condensation, the Darzens condensation and the Claisen condensation reactions. Besides, it is used to synthesize sulfur ylide so as to achieve the transformation of ketones to epoxides.
Packing & Storage:
25 KG/ barrel
Protections are needed by using rubber gloves, garments and masks during processing sodium hydride. It should be placed in cold and dry vessels and tightly sealed. The vessel should be dry and cool before using nitrogen to purge when transferring sodium hydride from one vessel to another.
