Combined coal stocks held by China's six key power generators in southern and eastern China averaged 11.489 million mt in the week to April 26, up 0.2%, according to a weekly report by Qinhuangdao Port on Thursday.
The stocks were equal to 20.52 days of consumption at the six power generators, up 0.24 day week on week, the report said.
Average coal consumption at the six power generators totaled 560,200 mt/day in the week to April 26, down 0.9% week on week.
Higher hydro power output in southern and eastern China was said to have resulted in the fall in coal consumption at coal-fired power plants, according to the report.
In the first quarter, utilization of hydropower units across the country averaged 691 hours, up 13.5% year on year.
