Operators at Exelon's Nine Mile Point 2 nuclear reactor in Scriba, New York, shut the unit at 12:13 am EDT (415 GMT) Monday to conduct scheduled refueling and maintenance, plant spokeswoman Jill Lyon said in an email.
Lyon declined to estimate when the unit will restart and return to full capacity, saying, "we don't provide outage duration estimates."
Nine Mile Point 2 was at 100% Sunday, according to the US Nuclear Regulatory Commission's daily reactor status report. The adjacent, 640 MW unit 1 was operating at 100% early Monday, according to this NRC report.
