Chile exported $6.74 billion worth of copper in the first three months of 2016, down 15% from $7.975 billion in the same period of last year, central bank data showed Thursday.
Chile is the world's largest producer of the red metal, producing 5.794 million mt last year.
Exports of copper in concentrate fell 18% to $2.888 billion, while exports of cathode fell 12% to $3.293 billion.
In March, Chile exported $2.419 billion worth of the metal, down 12% from a year earlier. Cathode exports fell 20% to $1.094 billion, while concentrate exports fell 7% to $1.118 billion.
