Dow plans to implement a second polyethylene increase in Latin America in April, with customers set to see a 4 cents/lb ($88/mt) hike during the second half of the month in addition to a 5-cent ($110/mt) increase that went into effect at the start of April, a company source said Tuesday.
The 4 cents/lb ($88/mt) increase on PE grades will be in effect in the Andean region effective April 15, the source said.
Andean countries covered by the proposed increase include Bolivia, Chile, Colombia, Ecuador, Peru and Venezuela.
The rest of Latin America including Mexico, Brazil, Colombia, Central America, and the Caribbean will see increases later this month, the source said.
"The increase will be in addition to the 5 cents/lb ($110/mt) that we implemented on April 1 in all of Latin America," the source said.
Dow earlier announced that in Latin America it would implement a 5 cents/lb increase on all PE grades sold, effective April 1.
In the US, Dow Chemical on Friday announced a 5 cents/lb increase for May, which is on top a 5-cent increase for April. There are no immediate announcements for an increase in May in Latin America but they are analyzing market conditions and may have a decision by next week, the sources said.
