Chile produced 449,539 mt of copper in February, up 0.2% on the year, the country's statistics institute INE said Wednesday.
INE attributed the minimal increase to one additional working day compared with February 2015, offset by lower production at a major mine following a drop in ore grades.
Production during the first two months of the year totaled 909,681 mt, down 6.7% on the year.
Chile is the world's largest producer of copper.
Production of molybdenum, a key byproduct at several of the country's major copper mines, rose 57.2% year on year in February to 5,278 mt.
Production in the first two months of the year totaled 10,226 mt, up 42.7% on the year.
