Dutch and German gas spot prices started bullishly Tuesday, especially in Germany, on cold temperatures, then eased during the morning as participants were withdrawing from storage.
By midday London time, Dutch TTF day-ahead last dealt 15 euro cent down from Monday's close at Eur12.40/MWh, while corresponding German GASPOOL and NetConnect were down by 7.5 euro cent and 15 euro cent, respectively, to Eur12.825/MWh and Eur12.80/MWh.
Just before 9 am London time, a GASPOOL day-ahead deal was seen at 12.95/MWh, while the NCG peer was traded at Eur13.00/MWh.
CustomWeather forecast temperatures in Amsterdam at 1 degree Celsius below seasonal norms Tuesday, falling to 2 C below norms and 1 C below norms Wednesday and Thursday, respectively.
Germany's capital Berlin was forecast 1 C below norms Tuesday, rising to norms Wednesday and Thursday.
Eclipse Energy, an analytics unit of Platts, forecast at around midday London time domestic consumption in the Netherlands Wednesday at 148 million cu m compared with 146.7 million cu m Tuesday and 145 million cu m Monday.
In Germany, consumption was also expected to rise Wednesday to 361 million cu m, from 359 million cu m Tuesday and 355 million cu m Monday.
Eclipse's short-term demand model is calculated from demand, temperature and wind speed outturns in addition to deviations between weather forecasts and these last outturns.
Dutch shippers were withdrawing 113 million cu m Tuesday at midday compared with 72.5 million cu m Tuesday, according to Eclipse.
Net withdrawal in Germany at the opening was at 56.2 million cu m Tuesday compared with 48.10 million cu m Monday, according to GSE.
On the supply side, real-time Norwegian flow rates into Emden-Dornum on the Dutch-German border stood at 143.1 million cu m/day at around midday London time, according to network operator Gassco, down around 1 million cu m from rates Monday.
Gassco did not report any outages on the Norwegian continental shelf Monday morning.
By midday UK time, March TTF dealt 2.5 euro cent lower at Eur11.90/MWh, while GASPOOL and NetConnect equivalent contracts were down 17.5 euro cent and 5 euro cent, respectively, to Eur12.475/MWh and Eur12.325/MWh.
