The NYMEX March natural gas futures contract edged lower Tuesday in after-hours trading on concerns about warmer-than-expected weather six-to-10 days out.
March futures were trading at $1.932/MMBtu, down 3.4 cents at 7:00 am EST (1200 GMT).
The NYMEX natural gas contract has now dropped to its lowest point of 2016.
The latest six-to-10 day outlook from the National Weather Service calls for a higher probability of above-average temperatures across the western two-thirds of the country with the East Coast seeing seasonably normal temperatures.
The eight-to-14-day forecast turned slightly less bearish with above-average temperatures in the western two thirds of the US, normal temperatures around New York and Boston, and below average for the Southeastern section of the country.
The March contract traded between $1.909/MMBtu and $1.963 overnight.
