The daily spot price of uranium Tuesday was $34.55/lb U3O8, down 20 cents from a week ago, according to price reporter TradeTech.
The daily U3O8 spot price, which was $34.75/lb January 15-27, dropped by 10 cents to $34.65/lb January 28 and remained unchanged through Monday, TradeTech reported.
"What we're seeing now is some slight price easing on modest ask-price declines," one market source said in a Friday interview. "Someone is bidding the price down, but not aggressively," a second market source said in an interview the same day.
This market source and two others interviewed Friday said they did not know the identity of the sellers.
Each of the three market sources said in interviews Friday they see little change in the U3O8 daily spot market over the next month or two, but there could be a pickup in demand going into spring.
A fourth market source, interviewed Friday said, "utilities aren't looking to enter the market until the second quarter," noting that these companies "have sufficient supplies and feel they can sit tight because they don't see [U3O8 daily spot] prices moving one way or another now."
TradeTech reported a $34.65/lb weekly spot price Friday, down 10 cents from January 22.
Price reporting company Ux Consulting's report Monday put the weekly spot price at $34.65/lb, down 10 cents from the previous week.
Ux Tuesday posted a Broker Average Price -- based on information from Evolution Markets and Numerco Ltd. -- of $34.64/lb, unchanged from Monday. The bid-offer spread Tuesday was $34.30-$34.98/lb, with the bid and offer both unchanged from Monday. The Platts Nuclear Fuel range for the week is $34.40-$35.00/lb.
