Venezuelan oil minister Eulogio Del Pino Friday said he will travel to Russia, Qatar, Iran and Saudi Arabia next week to coordinate a meeting between OPEC members and non-OPEC oil producers in February.
"These are key countries with which it is very important that agree to meet," Del Pino told reporters at the headquarters of PDVSA.
"I'll depart tomorrow," said Del Pino, who is also president of the Venezuelan state-owned PDVSA.
Del Pino will meet Monday in Moscow with Russia's energy minister, Alexander Novak, and on Tuesday with principals from Russian oil companies.
"On Wednesday I planned a meeting with the president of OPEC (Qatari energy minister Mohammed al-Sada), then I will go to Iran and Riyadh in Saudi Arabia," Del Pino added, without giving details of his agenda.
Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro Tuesday called for a meeting between OPEC members and non-OPEC producers to propose concrete measures to stabilize the oil market and oil prices.
