Ethanol production in Argentina in October reached an all-time-high of 86.12 million liters, up 18% from September and up 19% from October 2014, the latest data from Ministry of Energy and Mines showed.
The previous record was 78.9 million liters recorded in July.
Ethanol consumption in October also reached a record high, at 69.6 million liters, up 4% from September and up 16% year on year, the data showed.
Ethanol production in the first 10 months of 2015 totaled 670 million liters, up 24% year on year. Of this total, ethanol from sugar amounted to 275 million liters, up 15% from 2014, while the balance, or 395 million liters, was ethanol from corn, up 32%. There are nine sugar cane mills producing ethanol and five corn distilleries.
Kingsman, an agricultural unit of Platts, estimated that production and consumption in 2015 reached 850 million liters, representing a mix of 10% into gasoline. Recently the government has increased the mandatory blend to 12% with the additional supply coming from cane ethanol.
For 2016, Kingsman estimates a total of 1 billion liters of ethanol production and consumption in the country.
