Asia: Styron & Sumitomo Polycarbonate JV Being Renamed to Reflect Acquisition

Tokyo - The Su-mitomo Dow Ltd. Asian polycarbonate joint venture is being renamed Sumika Styron Polycarbonate Ltd. (SSPC) following Styron's recent acquisition of Dow Chemical's 50% interest in the venture.

SSPC, which is expected to be fully operational by 1 Apr. 2011, will continue to be headquartered in Tokyo, from where it will serve Asian Pacific customers and market polycarbon-ate products in the region.

Styron President and Chief Executive Chris Pappas recently emphasized his company's strong commitment to its polycarbonates, compounds and blends businesses, adding that Styron "plans to pursue growth opportunities for these products, particularly in the Asia Pacific geography."
