Coal stocks at 17 major Indian ports totaled 12.22 million mt December 31, up slightly from a fortnight earlier, data released by Indian shipbroker Interocean last Thursday showed.
Interocean did not publish stockpile data the week before. For the week ended December 17, stocks totaled 11.57 million mt.
The December 31 total included 9.67 million mt of thermal coal and 2.22 million mt of coking coal and the December 17 total 9.29 million mt of thermal coal and 2.13 million mt of coking coal.
Paradip on India's east coast had the highest total stocks December 31 at 2.22 million mt and the highest coking coal stocks at 1 million mt.
Gangavaram on the east coast had the highest thermal coal stocks at 1.45 million mt.
The 17 ports surveyed by Interocean were Mangalore, Tuticorin, Kakinada, Paradip, Kandla, Gangavaram, Visakhapatnam, Krishnapatnam, Muldwarka, Bhavnagar, Pipavav, Goa, Haldia, Magdalla, Dahej, Mumbai and Karaikal.
