CME's metals trading volume averaged 344,000 contracts/day in 2015, up 2% from the previous year, the US exchange group said Tuesday.
For the fourth quarter, the average daily volume was down 10% year on year at 326,000 contracts/day, while in December, the volume was also off 10% at 264,000 contracts/day compared with 293,000 contracts/day in December 2014.
CME's suite of metals products includes precious metals (gold, silver, platinum and palladium), base metals (copper, aluminum, zinc and lead) and ferrous metals (iron ore, ferrous scrap, hot rolled coil and steel billet).
