Brazilian imports of carbon steel sheet products in November reached 39,154 mt, or 46% below the 72,491 mt imported in the same period last year, data from the foreign trade ministry showed Monday.
Imports of hot-rolled coil in the month were 6,653 mt, 13.2% above the 5,876 mt imported in November 2014. Cold-rolled imports dropped 52.6% to 14,804 mt from 31,210 mt. For hot-dip galvanized, imports fell 50% to 17,697 mt from 35,405 mt a year ago.
The value of imports of HRC in November totaled $3.02 million FOB, while for CRC the total value was $6.93 million FOB and for HDG it was $9.49 million.
Year to date through November, Brazil imported 779,641 mt of flat rolled goods. It is 27.5% below the 1.07 million mt imported in the same eleven months last year.
Total imports in the period were valued at $462.66 million FOB. A year ago, imports were valued at $742.68 million FOB.
