LyondellBasell subsidiary Equistar Chemicals has ended a force majeure declaration on polypropylene produced by its Bayport Polymers facility in Pasadena, Texas, the company said in a letter to its customers Tuesday.
The force majeure was announced on October 7, the letter obtained by Platts added, and followed a site-wide power outage.
Polypropylene production resumed in late October, but the force majeure remained in place, CEO Bob Patel said in a conference call on the company's third-quarter 2015 results.
The Bayport facility represents 15% of LyondellBasell's global polypropylene capacity and about 50% of the company's North American capacity, Patel said.
In mid-June, the company declared a supply allocation for polypropylene out of the Bayport plant and its Lake Charles, Louisiana, operations, citing planned and unplanned production outages at the facilities, according to a company letter.
