China's Shandong Haili Chemical Industry plans to complete construction of its new 100,000 mt/year caprolactam plant at Zibo, Shandong province, by the end of 2011, a company source said late Wednesday.
Previously, the plant was supposed to begin operations in October 2010, but was then delayed to December the same year and then postponed indefinitely. No reasons were given for the delays.
Based on the current schedule, commercial operations are expected to begin in early 2012.
The plant will turn Shandong Haili Chemical into the fifth major caprolactam producer in China, after Sinopec Baling Petrochemical, Sinopec Shijiazhuang Refining & Chemical, DSM Nanjing Chemical Co. and Juhua Group Polyamide Fibre Factory.
