Seaborne exports of Polish thermal coal in the third quarter rose 19.9% on the year and 17.6% on the quarter to 820,800 mt, according to data released Thursday by state-controlled coal exporter Weglokoks.
The quarterly total was the highest since the first quarter of 2014.
However, total Polish seaborne thermal exports in January-September were 1.85 million mt, 23% lower on the year.
Polish thermal coal exports delivered inland were 410,800 mt, down 30.5% on the year and 0.7% lower quarter on quarter.
Q3 Polish exports of hard coking coal -- all delivered inland -- were 186,100 mt, down 19% from a year earlier but 68% higher on the quarter.
Total coking coal exports in January-September were 610,800 mt, up 59% on the year.
