North Dakota oil production fell below 1.19 million b/d in August to 1.186 million b/d, down more than 20,500 b/d from July and more than 41,000 b/d from the all-time high of 1.23 million b/d in December 2014, the state said Tuesday.
The state's natural gas production hit 1.644 Bcf/d in August, down from July's record-setting month of 1.660 Bcf/d.
Producing wells hit an all-time high in August, reaching 13,016 wells, up 51 wells from July.
North Dakota issued only 153 drilling permits in August, down from 233 in July.
The rig count appeared to steady, going from 73 rigs in July to 74 in August, but has since fallen. The state's rig count was 67 on Tuesday, down from the all-time high of 218 set in May 2012.
