China's Jiangsu Sopo plans to restart its 500,000 mt/year methanol plant and 600,000 mt/year No. 3 acetic acid plant in Zhenjiang over the weekend, after they were shut a week ago due to a technical problem at the methanol plant, a source close to the company said Thursday.
The methanol plant supplies the AA plant with its feedstock.
Jiangsu Sopo's 400,000 mt/year No. 2 AA plant at the same location is operating at around one third of its capacity, the source said. The oldest No. 1 unit, with a capacity of 250,000 mt/year, has been idle since early May when the company started up the No. 3 unit.
It was not yet clear what the operating rate of the plants would be after the restart, the source added.
