Taiwan's Dairen Chemical has scheduled a one-month turnaround at its 300,000 mt/year vinyl acetate monomer plant at Mailiao to start mid-November, a source close to the company said Tuesday.
In May, the source said the shutdown was scheduled for the fourth quarter, but a timetable had not been fixed at that time.
Dairen has another VAM plant at Mailiao, with a capacity of 350,000 mt/year, which will continue to operate, most likely at full rates, during the turnaround at the smaller plant, the source added.
The company is running both plants at around 80% capacity in June, an increase from around 75% operations in May.
