The latest annual Report on Cardiovascular Diseases in China shows that there have been over 260 million persons with hypertension in China; especially in recent years, growing at a speed of 3 million patients added per year, with the common occurrences of crippling and fatal cases due to hypertension clinically: the hypertension disease caused 1.20 million deaths every year in China.
As one common cardiovascular and cerebrovascular disease, hypertension seriously affects organs such as heart, brain and kidney of human body, and can cause atherosclerosis which results in artery luminal stenosis obstructing blood circulation; is the main risk factor of coronary heart disease and cerebrovascular disease, and is also the major reason causing limb hemiplegia, heart failure, cerebral infarction, cerebral hemorrhage and renal failure, which has been a "hidden killer" in the current world, thus promoting the development progress of hypertension treatment drugs market.
As introduced by Chinese guidelines for the management of hypertension, there are nine categories of treatment drugs for anti-hypertension: diuretics, b blocker, angiotensin converting enzyme inhibitor, angiotensin II receptor inhibitor, Calcium Channel Blocker, a blocker, centrally acting drug, direct vasodilator, and antihypertensive drug for acute I.V. injection for hypertension. The Calcium Channel Blocker (CCB) and angiotensin II receptor inhibitor have become the mainstream varieties in global anti-hypertension drugs with the development of clinical medicine, which play a significant part.
