Humanwell Healthcare Group signed the cooperation agreement with China-Africa Development Fund on November 18 for both parties to set up an investment platform for Africa: starting with the new pharmaceutical factory jointly invested in Mali to together start the comprehensive cooperation of Chinese and African pharmaceutical industries.
Wang Xuehai, the President of Humanwell Healthcare Group, introduced that Humanwell Healthcare started to build Humanwell (Africa) Pharmaceutical S.A. in Bamako, the capital of Mali in 2013, whose pharmaceutical factory covers an area of 103mu with a total investment of 0.25 billion yuan, Humanwell Healthcare and China-Africa Development Fund respectively holding 70% and 30% share.
Mali pharmaceutical factory is constructed according to standards of the new edition GMP (Good Manufacturing Practice of Drugs), which is the first modernized pharmaceutical factory constructed by China in Africa, and is also the pharmaceutical factory with the highest technical standard in West African region, and is currently under equipment debugging and is estimated to be put into operation on January 1 of next year.
Humanwell Healthcare, as the Chinese pharmaceutical enterprise pioneer going abroad, broke through from the commanding height: it contributed to establish the U.S. PuraCap Pharmaceutical LLC with the U.S. Enspire Group LLC in 2008, and explored the “two parts abroad” “going out” mode where the R&D and market were in foreign countries but production in China. Furthermore, Humanwell Health also established branches and offices in East Asia and Africa. The total export of pharmaceutical products of the company last year was USD50 million, with the year-on-year growth of 80%.
