Reliance Industries has issued an export sales tender for 25,000 tonnes of sulphur due to increased production, trader sources said on Wednesday.
Speaking on the sidelines of the China International Sulphur and Sulphuric Acid Conference 2011, a trader said the Indian domestic sulphur producer will close the tender on 17 June.
Reliance Industries has offered 25,000 tonnes of sulphur for shipment from the port of Sikka, India, on 15-21 July, the trader added.
The 17 June tender comes after Reliance Industries made two tender awards in May, which was unexpected by the market because the producer typically floats one export tender at the beginning of each month.
The 4 May and 26 May sales tenders, in total 50,000 tonnes of sulphur, were both awarded in the range of $225-230/tonne (?55-159/tonne) FOB (free on board).
The 25,000 tonnes offered are understood to have come from increased net sulphur production at Reliance Industries' refineries this month, a source close to the producer said.
The China International Sulphur and Sulphuric Acid Conference 2011 runs from Wednesday 15 June through Friday 17 June.
