South Korea's imports of thermal coal in September fell 1% year on year to 7.06 million mt, which was 9% down from August to the lowest monthly total this year as flows from Indonesia continued to decline, customs data showed Monday.
Deliveries of Indonesian coal fell 13% month on month to 2.4 million mt, while Australian volumes were little changed at 2.64 million mt.
Imports from Russia -- which hit a year-to-date high of 1.7 million mt in August -- fell 25% on the month to 1.27 million mt in September.
South Korean thermal coal imports for the first nine months of 2014 stood at 69.49 million mt, flat to the corresponding 2013 period.
