An initial ethylene October contract price was settled at Eur1,150/mt FD ($1,463) NWE, a rollover on the September, sources said.
The settlement was between Clariant as a buyer with LyondellBasell, BP Refining and Petrochemicals and BASF as sellers, a source from the buyer said.
LyondellBasell was not immediately available to confirm. BPRP did not confirm. BASF confirmed.
The expectations for the settlement have been mostly bearish following the recent slump in feedstock naphtha.
Naphtha closed Wednesday at $821.50/mt CIF NWE.
When the ethylene contract price settled for September at Eur1,150/mt FD NWE on August 28, naphtha was trading at $868.25/mt CIF NWE.
