Turkey's bituminous thermal coal imports in July rose 23% month on month to 2.212 million mt, the highest monthly volume since October, data from the Turkish Statistical Institute showed Monday.
Thermal coal imports continued to be mainly sourced from Colombia, which shipped 945,575 mt of coal to Turkey in July, up 20% year on year and down 1% on June.
Russia 751,648 mt of thermal coal to Turkey in July, down 21% year on year and 33% higher month on month to its highest level since February.
Imports from South Africa were 188,588 mt in July, more than twice as much as in June and up 8% from July 2013.
Platts assessed the monthly average of its CIF Turkey 6,000 kcal/kg NAR 90-day price at $81.25/mt for July, down 25 cents from June.
The weekly CIF Turkey 6,000 kcal/kg NAR price was last assessed at $83.50/mt Friday, up $1.50/mt on the week.
Turkish coking coal imports in July fell 43% year on year and 11% month on month to 387,101 mt, the lowest monthly level since April.
Australia sent 239,094 mt of the coking coal and the rest came from the US, TUIK data showed.
