The total volume of electricity traded on the Hungarian power exchange's day-ahead market in July reached a new record of 1,115.125 GWh, according to data published by HUPX Thursday.

Day-ahead volumes had risen 1.14% month-on-month from 1,102 GWh in June and were also up almost 59% from July last year when traded volumes reached 701 GWh. This was the fifth month this year when volumes have exceeded 1 TWh, data shows.

Daily volumes averaged 35.97 GWh and reached 41.09 GWh for delivery July 18, HUPX said, just below the previous month's record of 42.56 GWh.

The monthly baseload price on the day-ahead market averaged Eur39.31/MWh ($52.58/MWh), a month-on-month decrease of Eur0.45, while the monthly peakload price averaged Eur43.02/MWh, down Eur1.91 from the previous month, as increased rainfall across the Balkans boosted hydroelectric reserves amid reduced summer demand.
There was a similar trend in over-the-counter trade as the Hungarian day-ahead power market posted slight losses month-on-month to average Eur40.52/MWh in July, a decrease of 1% from the previous month, Platts data showed.
