US producer Axiall will increase its price for PVC suspension grade resin by 2 cents/lb, effective August 1, the company said in a letter to its customers Monday.
"Conditions in the PVC marketplace continue to be driven by a tight supply/demand balance coupled with increased input costs," the letter said.
The company is the third PVC producer to announce domestic PVC prices increases in the past few days -- OxyVinyls and Westlake were heard on Friday announcing 2 cents/lb increases effective August 1.
If accepted market-wide, the August increase will mark the fourth price increase this year. All the major US PVC producers announced and implemented three consecutive 3 cents/lb increases in first quarter of the year. There have been no contract prices decreases so far in 2014, according to sources.
In spot markets, US export PVC price were assessed Wednesday at $950-960/mt FAS Houston, while domestic PVC was assessed at 62-64 cents/lb delivered via railcar.
