China imported 129,540mt of gasoil in April, sharply up 37% month-on-month, according to the data from General Administration of Customs.
The country hiked gasoil imports in the month as domestic supply was slightly tight this year, C1 found. Large month-on-month was also because of small imports in the previous month, while April imports were lower than those in January or February.
Meanwhile, China's gasoil exports declined 17% from the previous month to 218,267mt, the data showed. China cut gasoil export quota for the second quarter, in a bid to ensure domestic supply.
The country's gasoil imports in the first four months of 2011 dropped 1% year-on-year to 570,629mt, and its exports plunged 59% to 740,340mt, the data also indicated.
