Chile exported $3.076 billion worth of copper in April, down 11% from $3.468 billion in the year-ago month, central bank data showed Wednesday.

Chile is the world's largest producer of copper and is forecast to produce a record 6 million mt this year.

The drop in exports reflect a 32% drop in the value of copper cathode shipments to $1.298 billion, while the value of concentrates shipped during the month rose 23% to $1.457 billion.

Exports during the first four months of the year totaled $12.778 billion, up 1% from the same period of 2013.
