Japan's ethylene production in November edged up 3.4% from October to 598,700 mt, and jumped 10.8% year on year, the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry said late Wednesday.
The ministry also announced that Japan's exports of ethylene and ethylene derivatives in October had fallen 8.1% from September to 189,400 ethylene equivalent tons, or EET. The October exports were up 20.2% year on year, according to the data.
Ethylene exports alone had totaled 75,430 mt in October, down 17.4% from September but was up 54.2% from October 2012. There were no ethylene imports in October.
Data on November exports and imports have not been released yet.
Japan's imports of ethylene and ethylene derivatives in October inched down 0.2% from a month earlier to 56,500 EET, METI said. From a year earlier, these imports fell 5%.
