Celanese will raise global prices for acetyl intermediates effective October 1, the company said.
In the US and Canada, Celanese will raise prices for vinyl acetate monomer by 2 cents/lb ($44/mt). Celanese will also increase vinyl acetate monomer prices in all other regions by $40-60/mt, the company said Thursday in a notice to customers.
The price for acetic acid will increase $20/mt in Asia outside China.
Celanese will also raise prices outside of the US for ethyl acetate, butyl acetate, formaldehyde and paraformaldehyde, according to the notice.
Platts most recently assessed US vinyl acetate monomer Thursday at $925/mt FOB USG. In Asia, acetic acid was assessed at $905/mt CFR China.
