US spot mixed xylene was last assessed Friday at a five-month high of $4.25/gal ($1,296.85/mt) FOB US Gulf Coast after a trade was heard at that level for August, sources said.
The spot assessment has not been this high since March 13, when mixed xylene was assessed at this same level, according to Platts data.
Friday's assessment was 11 cents/gal ($33.33/mt) above the assessment on Thursday.
Sources attributed the gain to bullish buying ahead of upcoming producer turnarounds in a market with limited supply.
Mixed xylene spot prices have been rising trend since being assessed at $3.83/gal FOB USG on June 28 and are expected to continue rising amid tight supply, sources said.
