Asia could be looking at a shortfall of around 120,000 mt/month of isomer-grade mixed xylenes from late September through October due to refinery turnaround season in Japan and South Korea, a market source said Tuesday.
"Supply in Asia is tightening as refineries are going on turnarounds from September to October," the source said.
Japan's largest refiner, JX Nippon Oil & Energy, plans to shut its aromatics unit at Sendai in September for a scheduled turnaround expected to last about a month.
