Gas prices on the Continental European markets were stable to lower Tuesday morning, pressured by warmer-than-average temperatures and strong piped imports.

At midday UK time, the day-ahead contract on the Dutch TTF was seen at Eur26.05/MWh, down by 5 euro cents from Monday's assessment.

On the neighboring German markets, the NetConnect day-ahead was unchanged at Eur26.35/MWh, while gas for next-day delivery on the GASPOOL was down by 10 euro cents, also to Eur26.35/MWh.

July gas on the TTF shed 15 euro cents to Eur26.05/MWh, while the Q3 13 contract was down 35 euro cents at Eur26.50/MWh.

Data by forecaster CustomWeather showed that temperatures in Germany and the Benelux region will be well above the seasonal average for the remainder of the working week, muting demand.

On Thursday, 34 degrees Celsius was forecast for Berlin, 29 C for Hamburg and Munich and 26 C for Amsterdam.

According to Gassco, Norwegian exports to Germany and the Netherlands were, at 1100 GMT, at a good 117 million cubic meters, while data by Platts unit Bentek Energy showed that 251 million cu m of gas were nominated to flow to western Europe through the Eastern Corridor.

Long-term contracts fell back, having posted considerable gains on Friday and Monday, with Winter 13 on the TTF shedding 30 euro cents to Eur27.70/MWh, and gas for delivery in 2014 down by 30 euro cents as well to Eur26.60/MWh.
