The May US mixed xylene contract price settled at $3.94/gallon ($1,193.82/mt), 11 cents ($33.33/mt) higher than April's mark, trading sources said Monday.
The MX contract price had settled at $3.83/gal for April, which was 57 cents lower than the settlement for March.
Sources expected the contract price to settle higher after a rise in spot MX prices and deals. Spot prices have been been on an upward trend since April 17, when MX was assessed at $3.83/gal FOB US Gulf Coast.
US MX spot prices have been rising on strengthened demand in downstream paraxylene, market sources said.
