South Korea's Kumho Petrochemical plans to bring forward by 9 days and lengthen a turnaround at the smaller of its two butadiene rubber plants at Yeosu, a company source said Thursday.
The 120,000 mt/year plant will now shut April 1 for four weeks, instead of April 10 for two weeks, amid poor demand and high BR inventory, the source said. The plant is scheduled to restart May 2.
Kumho's other BR plant at Yeosu is currently operating at about 60% of its nameplate capacity of 220,000 mt/year, and will continue to run at this rate during the shutdown of the smaller plant.
