Amoco Mitsui PTA Indonesia declared force majeure on purified terephthalic acid supplies from its 485,000 mt/year plant at Merak, with effect from Monday this week, after the operating rate at the plant unexpectedly dropped, sources close to the company said Friday.
The reason for the drop in the operating rate, from 100% of capacity, was unclear and the current run rate was not revealed.
"Because of lower plant runs, the company was not able to supply its customers fully," said a source close to the company.
It is not clear when the the company will lift the force majeure, sources said.
