US Atlantic Coast motor gasoline stocks rose 651,000 barrels to 60.463 million barrels in the week that ended Friday, which is the highest level in nearly a year, according to US Energy Information Administration data released Wednesday.
The last time regional stocks were as high or higher was the week that ended March 16, 2012, when stocks totaled 60.499 million barrels.
Stocks usually rise in the first quarter and peak in that time period, but Atlantic Coast gasoline stocks are 1.021 million barrels below year-ago levels.
Atlantic Coast CBOB stocks totaled 21.200 million barrels, up 404,000 barrels, while RBOB stocks rose 1.428 million barrels to 20.255 million barrels, data showed.
Atlantic Coast finished motor gasoline stocks averaged 599,000 b/d, up 104,000 b/d on the week.
East Coast refiner net input of crude averaged 920,000 b/d, up 34,000 b/d, while refinery utilization edged down to 74.5%.
