Dow Chemical will raise its prices for oxygenated solvents by 5 to 9 cents/lb starting February 15, it said in a Friday letter to customers that was obtained by Platts on Monday.
Dow said it will increase acetone and acetone derivatives, including methyl isobutyl ketone 9 cents/lb ($198/mt), while increasing other oxygenated solvents, including normal butanol, 2-ethylhexanol and normal butyl acetate 5 cents/lb.
The increases follow hikes by producers for February 1 of as much as 6 cents/lb on acetone, 15 cents/lb on MIBK, 5-6 cents/lb on normal butanol and 3-6 cents/lb increases for 2-ethylhexanol and normal butyle acetate.
Dow last week said it would implement 100% order control on oxygenated solvents, including 2-ethylhexanol, normal butanol, normal butyl acetate, MIBK and acetone. Under order controls, suppliers do not permit buyers to exceed their typical level of purchases.
