The US oil and natural gas rotary rig count for the week ending Friday fell by one to 1,799, which was down 220 from 2,019 the same week a year ago, Baker Hughes said in its weekly report.
The natural gas rig count fell by one to 416. The oil rig count also fell by one to 1,381.
There were also two miscellaneous rigs, up one from the week before, according to Baker Hughes data.
Canada's rig count rose by 12 to 418 for the week, which is down 113 from 531 the same week a year ago. Canada's oil rigs were at 289, up eight from the week before, and its gas rigs were at 129, up four. There were no miscellaneous rigs in Canada, unchanged from a week ago.
