ExxonMobil Chemical Company is moving a previously announced 5-cent/lb increase for all grades of high density polyethylene, low density polyethylene, and linear low density polyethylene for the US to January 1, 2013, according to a letter to customers obtained by Platts Wednesday.
ExxonMobil -- like most major US producers -- originally sought 5-cent increases in October and November, but neither went through. November contracts settled down 2 cents/lb.
Dow also informed customers in a letter last week that it would be raising prices by 5 cents/lb for January 1, noting that the increase would be in addition to a previously announced rise. Sources said Dow is also seeking a 5-cent increase for December.
