Coal stocks at key power plants across China totaled 93.71 million mt at the end of October, National Development and Reform Commission data released Tuesday showed. It did not give a year-on-year comparison.
The stocks will last for 29 days of consumption, up from 21 days a year ago, the NDRC said.
Combined coal stocks at China's major coal ports totaled 35.62 million mt at the end of October, up 37% year on year, according to the NDRC figures.
Over January-October China's railroads transported 1.87 billion mt of coal, down 0.6% year on year. In the same period, China was a net coal importer by 217 million mt, with exports at about 7.9 million mt and imports at about 224.9 million mt, the NDRC data showed.
