US orthoxylene contracts for November settled 3.25 cents/lb lower Monday at 63.75 cents/lb, according to industry sources.
A source said not all producers and buyers had settled on the price, and talks were still ongoing for about half of the market players. The US OX contract typically follows feedstock metaxylene settlements.
The November US MX contract settled earlier this month down 33 cents/gal to 395 cents/gal and spot MX prices have been in range of that price. Market sources had said a 2-6 cents/lb decrease in the OX contract was possible on the heels of the lower MX settlement. The October OX contract was settled at 67 cents/lb.
