Combined coal stocks at six major power generators in eastern and southern China averaged 13.886 million mt/day in the week ended Tuesday, down 1.9% from the previous seven-day period, Qinhuangdao Port said Thursday.
The stocks held by Zhejiang Power, Shanghai Power, Guangdong (Yudean) Power, Guodian, Datang and Huaneng can cover a total of 23.7 days of consumption at their power plants, down 0.9 days week on week, the report said.
Of the six, Zhejiang Power's average daily coal stocks dropped 1.0% week on week to 4.019 million mt Tuesday; Guangdong Power's slipped 9.1% to 1.565 million mt, and Shanghai Power's rose 0.9% to 508,600 mt.
Guodian's average daily coal stocks dropped 4.4% to 3.454 million mt in the week ended Tuesday; Huaneng's rose 0.6% to 3.459 million mt; and Datang's rose 8.8% to 881,100 mt.
The six power generators consumed a combined 4.105 million mt of coal, or an average 586,400 mt/day, in the week to Tuesday, up 1.8% week on week.
Zhejiang Power's average coal consumption slipped 0.7% week on week to 104,700 mt/day; Guangdong Power's dropped 4.7% to 70,000 mt/day; and Shanghai Power's jumped 37.7% to 24,000 mt/d.
Guodian's average coal consumption rose 2.0% to 121,800 mt/day; Huaneng's edged up 0.3% to 180,100 mt/day; and Datang's rose 6.2% to 85,700 mt/day.
