China Coal Energy Company, the listed subsidiary of China National Coal Group, said Tuesday it produced 9.3 million mt of commercially-ready coal in September, up 17.4% year on year.
Over January-September, China Coal Energy produced 82.43 million mt of coal, up 6.7% year on year, it said, without providing a breakdown for thermal and metallurgical coal volumes.
China Coal Energy has a coking coal mining capacity of about 1.5 million mt/year from its captive Shaqu mine in Liulin county, Shanxi province. It plans to increase this to about 10 million mt/year by 2015 when three more captive coking coal mines - Hecaogou in Shaanxi province, and Xiaohuigou and Wangjialing in Shanxi province - come online. The company did not reveal its thermal coal mining capacity.
Meanwhile, China Coal Energy's September coal sales stood at 13.36 million mt, up 7.5% year on year. Over January-September, its coal sales rose 4.7% year on year to 106.14 million mt.
Of September sales volumes, exports accounted for 70,000 mt, down 12.5% year on year. Over January-September, the company exported 520,000 mt of coal, down 8.8% year on year.
Meanwhile, the company imported 450,000 mt of coal in September, unchanged from September 2011. Over January-September, it imported 4.17 million mt of coal, up 89.5% from a year ago.
Additionally, China Coal Energy produced 100,000 mt of coke in September, down 47.4% year on year. Over January-September, its coke output fell 20.5% to 1.28 million mt.
