China imported 20.44 million mt of coal in August, inching down 0.7% year on year, and falling 15.8% from July, Qinhuangdao Port said Wednesday citing customs data.
In the first eight months of 2012, China imported 185.42 million mt of coal, up 46.3% year on year.
Meanwhile, China exported 650,000 mt of coal in August, down 48.0% year on year, but up 30.0% month on month, according to customs data released last week. Over the first eight months of the year, China exported 6.92 million mt of coal, down 36.6% year on year.
