Spain's Elix Polymers has raised prices for its acrylonitrile-butadiene-styrene products in Europe by Eur50-70/mt ($65-92/mt) for the month of September, with immediate effect, the company said Monday.
Elix hiked prices of its Elix ABS grade by Eur60/mt, Elix 100 Series by Eur50/mt and its Elix 200 Series by Eur70/mt.
No outright prices were given, but Platts assessed ABS prices at Eur1,940/mt FD Northwest Europe at the end of August.
Elix cited additional raw material increases as the main reason for the price rise.
The NWE styrene monomer contract price for September was fully settled at Eur1,410/mt, an increase of Eur43/mt over the August contract on September 4. Since then, spot styrene values have rallied $114/mt or 7% to $1,735/mt FOB Amsterdam-Rotterdam-Antwerp, as of last Friday, according to Platts data.
Elix is not the first producer to raise ABS prices in September. Styron Europe lifted prices of its Magnum ABS resins by Eur90/mt at the start of the month.
